May 2010

  • April 30-May 1 Spring Volunteer & Spring Cleaning Weekend

Fun, Friends, Food, and FREE all describe this very popular tradition at Campit.  Volunteer members work together on projects to make Campit even more beautiful for everyone to enjoy during the summer. We’ll be painting, planting, pruning, staining, building, fixing, and generally having a great time outdoors.

We’ll supply tools -- or feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Campit thanks you for your help with free camping/lodging, free food and free refreshments during this weekend.  Members tell us this is one of the best weekends for making new friends and getting to know other great Campit members.

Because the gardens and landscaping of Campit Seasonal sites are a huge part of what makes Campit so beautiful, we are inviting our Seasonals to participate in all of the meals, refreshments and gatherings at Volunteer Weekend.

So we’ll have more people than ever working together to make Campit even more beautiful.  Join us!

  • May 7-9 Pirates Invade Campit

Argh, Matey!  Pirates invade Campit this weekend looking for “booty.”  New in 2010, we have an exciting and fun weekend planned. Join Captain Morgan Friday night as he treats his crew to marshmallows and s’mores at Campit’s fire pit.  Then Saturday team up for a scavenger hunt, Campit style. Prizes awarded to the team that finds the “booty” first. Campit’s seasonals will be having their annual Spring Yard Sale -- perfect for those hunting for treasure.

Saturday night we celebrate with our Caribbean Dance Party. Dress as your favorite Pirate or Wench for the chance to win a prize. Polly the Parrot will be there, so should you!

  • MAY 7-9 Yard Sale & Flea Market

Come to buy, come to sell, come to trade.  Campit Seasonals will be having a yard sale and all Campit Members are invited to join in on Saturday and Sunday.

  • May 14-16 Bears Spring Romp & Western Weekend

A favorite weekend for people who like warm food and hot men!  The weekend includes our 8th annual chili cook-off. Make a chili and join the competition or just enjoy the taste of everyone’s chili at a potluck dinner. If chili isn’t your thing, then bring a dish to pass or donate a couple of bucks to the potluck fund and enjoy a great meal and a great crowd.

Another highlight of this fun weekend is a good ol’ fashioned Country Kickin’ Hoe Down. DJ Cowboy Eric will be playing your favorite country dancing music. And you know at Campit you can’t keep a good hoe down!

Country, Cornbread, Chili and Bears…Oh my!!

  • May 21-23 Super Hero/Evil Villain Singles Weekend

Don’t sit home alone or in a smoky bar. Come join us and make new friends or meet your own Super Hero. Friday night’s Singles “Weenie” Social starts the weekend off.  Then wander around the resort and enjoy the campfires—remember, it’s a Campit tradition that a campfire is an invitation to anyone to stop by, say hello and enjoy the outdoors with friendly people.

This weekend only gets better.  On Saturday we debut our “Super Hero/ Evil Villain Costume Ball” in our Westwood Clubhouse. Dress as your favorite super hero or villain and win a prize. Prizes awarded for best costumes. When you think super heroes, think outside the box!!
